The US Division of Justice has charged a Florida man for operating a large scheme that offered greater than $1 billion in fraudulent Cisco networking gear to unsuspecting clients.
Onur Aksoy of Miami, Fla., is accused of personally amassing hundreds of thousands off the rip-off, the DOJ stated in a press release. The accused operated an organization known as “Professional Community Entities” that offered refurbished, rehabbed, and modified Cisco gear imported from China and Hong Kong together with pretend but convincing packaging, labels, and documentation.
The indictment for Aksoy stated that victims who bought the counterfeit {hardware} included hospitals, faculties, authorities companies, and the navy, who have been left with defective, failing gear.
The DoJ charged Aksoy with one depend of conspiracy to visitors in counterfeit items and to commit mail and wire fraud; three counts of mail fraud; 4 counts of wire fraud; and three counts of trafficking in counterfeit items.
